There is more to life than more.
We chase more automatically. More responsibility. More output. More ways to help. More ways to be needed. It feels generous. It feels like growth. It feels like the right thing to do.
But there are unintended consequences of adding more.
More adds weight, expectations, noise, and pressure to keep performing.
That additional burden creates stress. And stress looks for relief.
There is no shortage of distraction waiting to welcome you. Endless scrolling. Streaming. Shopping. Snacking. Outrage. Comparison. All of it designed to capture your attention and monetize it.
Society benefits from your distraction. You do not.
The more overwhelmed you feel, the easier it is to drift from your real goals and the person you’re trying to become.
And in the middle of that, you are trying to balance caring for yourself and supporting the people you love. Both matter. Both are good. It is a hard line to walk.
If you give everything away, you burn out. If you numb yourself, you drift. Neither builds a steady life.
Some habits that once helped you cope may now be working against you. The constant yes. The over committing. The late night escape that steals tomorrow’s energy. What may have once served you, starts shaping you in ways you no longer want.
A better filter is simple, and critical, even if it isn’t easy. Accept what is outside your control. Take responsibility for what is within it. Be wise enough to know the difference.
Then ask yourself the harder question. Does this move me closer to the person I want to be, or further away?
Focus on what strengthens you. Support the people you love. Protect your attention from everything that profits when you forget who you are trying to become.
There is more to life than more. And most of the time, we benefit the most from less.
If this resonated with you, don’t just nod and move on.
Hit replay and tell me where “more” has been weighing on you lately. I read every response. The conversation matters more than the clicks.
If someone came to mind while you were reading this, forward it to them. We all know someone carrying too much.
And if you aren’t subscribed yet, join us. Each week I write about simplifying life in a way that is practical, honest, and grounded.
If you are ready to go deeper, this is the work I do in my coaching. We identify what is adding unnecessary weight, clarify who you actually want to become, and build a life that supports that identity. And if you simply want help clearing out a drawer, a room, or your whole house, I can do that too.
Less excess. More intention. A steadier life.

Until then, stay warm and keep it simple.
