Yesterday the clocks jumped forward to take an hour of sleep away from us. Why is this still a thing?!
But even though we lost a little bit of our weekend, it was nice to have the sunshine later in the day last night. And the days will only be getting warmer and longer from here on out. Well, it might be punctuated with the occasional snow storm if you live here in the midwest, but I digress.
Now that there is more sunlight, for more hours of the day, it’s easier to start noticing things. One of them being cobwebs.
It might seem like they appeared out of nowhere, but these ninja spiders we never see have been working on them all winter.
Not a lot of natural light in the winter, at least when we’re home, and everything is closed up to keep the house warm.
But now that the curtains and maybe even the windows are open, it’s time to get rid of them. It will feel great, and it won’t take a ton of effort.
So grab a broom, a microfiber duster, or that vacuum hose attachment you have. Take a lap around the house and be sure to check these areas:
ceiling corners
above window frames and doorways
light fixtures and especially ceiling fans (gross)
stairwell ceilings
basement and garage corners
top corners of closets
In 15 minutes you’ll be cobweb free and feel quite accomplished. Bonus points if you’re able to have music playing and some windows open while you do it.
Hit reply to share your favorite spring cleaning tip. I always enjoy learning the small trucks people use to keep their homes simple and tidy.
If you know someone who could use a little fresh air and fewer cobwebs in their life, feel free to forward this email to them.
And if you’re feeling like the cobwebs have spread beyond the corners of the house and into life itself, we can fix that too. I’m always happy to chat about decluttering and simplifying things one step at a time.
Spring is a good time to start.
Until then.
Yours in Simplicity,
Jimmy
